Hi, I’m Lauren Cross! I’m a writer, content editor, graphic designer, and reproductive warrior. After pregnancy loss, primary and secondary infertility, I’m also a mother to a an elementary school-aged kid and preschooler twins, thanks to my egg donor.
Before we cycled, my husband and I knew we would always be open with our children about their genetic origins. I started telling my children their conception story while pregnant with them, filling in the details as they’ve grown.
I’m currently editing Mother Nurture, my first memoir which is about my complicated journey to parenthood. Before writing a book, I wrote about my journey to parenthood on my blog, On Fecund Thought. I also content-edited Let’s Talk About Egg Donation, the only book written by, for, and about parents via egg donation.
I’ve been writing and talking and editing about non-genetic parenting since 2014. And I realized there wasn’t a customizable book for kids. So I decided to make one!
I wrote and designed a template for all families who partnered with a third person—whether you are a mom + dad, two moms, two dads, a single mom or dad, or a non-binary parent who created your family with the help of egg/sperm/embryo donors, and/or a surrogate, and/or through adoption. Thus, My Conception Story™ was born!
My Conception Story™ is based on how I talk to my kiddos about how we came to be a family. Whether you’re trying to find the words or filling in your story, I hope you find it a helpful resource for having conversations with your little ones about the special way you became a family!

P.S. I’d love to see how you customize your books. Don’t forget to tag me on Instagram: @ThisIsLaurenCross and #MyConceptionStory
P.P.S. Finally, language, like conversations, are constantly evolving. If you think something is missing or could be improved, please let me know. I welcome feedback!
